AnoExpressions exists to promote Anodizing as an art medium, we're just starting out with this exciting new application of this amazing technology. Our website has just been born so due apologies for any kinks you may encounter, most of it is still under construction - the Gallery however is up, so you can have a look at some of the artwork!!

The artwork on this website was the creation of artist Naim Akhtar who uses unsealed 5000 series aluminum panels to create beautiful anodized landscapes, portraits and abstract art. The aluminum is anodized in a sulphuric acid bath to create an aluminum oxide coating which both protects and acts as an absorbing agent for colored dyes.

Naim's work was recently displayed at the 16th international Aluminum Anodizers Council conference held in Chicago USA (October, 2007).
About the artist
With both an artistic and technical background and having spent 25 years on an anodizing shop floor as the Department Head in one of the largest anodizing plants in the middle east, Naim combined his passion for the arts and his work, to try and produce "anodized paintings" - initial experiments were greatly appreciated in the UAE, and we are now trying to promote anodizing globally.
